Chevy Equinox EV – 2024

One of the most recent advents in the automobile industry is electric cars. It is something that the modern world is already touting as the future of vehicles. Car brands such as Tesla, Nissan, and Ford have experienced immense success in electric cars. Hence, the popular General Motors-owned company, Chevrolet, has also decided to throw its hat into the proverbial ring. Chevrolet has already built up a lot of buzz for their first-ever electric SUV, the new Chevy Equinox EV. The brand will release the car in 2024.

Essential details about Chevy Equinox EV

The standard vehicle design is supposed to provide 210 horsepower and 250 miles of driving per charge. However, some upper models may extend the range up to 300 miles and goose up the power to 290 horsepower. Let’s look into the features in detail which make Equinox EV futuristic and interesting:

Chevrolet Equinox EV Market Price

When comparing it to the old Equinox 2022, Equinox EV market price is $4000 more than 2022 Chevy Equinox market price, which is $26,000. Given the two-year gap between both cars, the difference in features, and the fact that the Equinox EV is electric, the price increase is impressively fair.

Additionally, most reliable electric SUVs like Tesla, Volkswagen, and Volvo can go for upwards of $50,000, making Chevrolet’s Equinox EV a solid competitor at a lower price.

Specs and Features

The Equinox EV has a flashy set of new features that will make your investment worthwhile. Apart from spectacular mileage, it offers a massive screen, long-lasting battery life, and much more. Talking about the mileage and range of the car, the EV can go 70 miles in just 10 minutes of charging while also boasting an impressive 300 miles range on a full charge.

This is possible because the car also has the latest battery technology, which gives it a lot of power. It has standard DC fast charging technology that lets it charge at 150 kW, and it also has standard 11.5 kW Level 2 AC charging. Simply put, it leads to an estimated range 34 miles of range per hour of charge.

In terms of technology, the main attraction of the dashboard is a large infotainment system: a behemoth 17.7-inch screen. The system has a cool Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance technology that lets people drive without using their hands on roads that support it. There are safety features built into the EV to make sure you are safe and make driving easier. The key features include the following:

  • Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
  • Standard lane departure warning with lane keeping assist.
  • Available adaptive cruise control with hands-free driving mode.
  • Intellibeam® high beam assist

Looks and Design

Its design is unlike any other cars made by Chevrolet. According to Chevrolet, “the Equinox EV’s expressive design has an athletic, bold and commanding appearance”, which perfectly sums up the car’s exterior. The “sleek lines and sporty proportions” of the car are courtesy of Chevrolet’s new Ultium Platform.

The vehicle comes in a wide range of colors, such as Riptide Blue, Black, Iridescent Pearl, Sterling Gray Metallic, Radiant Red Metallic, Red Hot, and Galaxy Gray Metallic. A notable aesthetic feature is in the front of the car, where there is a sleek strip of LED and a textured carbon fiber trim on the lower area of the front splitter. This textured area replaces the front grill, which, being an EV, the car does not need.

Moving onto the side profile, the car offers a long length and width, with a standard SUV height, meaning that the vehicle is quite spacious. The vehicle offers 57 cubic feet of cargo room in the trunk, giving you enough space to accommodate your stuff and things.

The notable stand out in terms of the car’s looks is the two-tone model, where the top is white, and the lower half is blue, based on the first view of the vehicle. The car is equipped with standard 19-inch wheels.

Interior:

Looking at the interior, Chevrolet has stepped up their game to make the inside of the car feel more premium and modern, especially compared to the gas-powered Equinox. The vehicle focuses on comfort-centric features and offers heated front and rear outboard seats to make driving easier in winter. It also offers heated steering wheel.

The car’s interior is two-toned, with premium stitching quality and ample legroom in the back. The backseats have dedicated air vents, as well as two USB-C charging ports, for utmost convenience. The car is a 5-seater, but the middle seat can fold into a comfortable armrest.

The Equinox EV is also fitted with a panoramic glass roof, which is great for letting in a lot of natural light and extends toward the backseats. However, since the car still has more than a year before release, Chevrolet has only shown a prototyped interior, and the actual car may have many more features.

Warranty and Maintenance Coverage

Here is the following coverage that Chevrolet provides:

  • The limited warranty covers three years or 36,000 miles.
  • Powertrain warranty covers for five years or 60,000 miles.
  • Complimentary maintenance covers one maintenance visit.
  • Electric components like batteries are covered for eight years or 100,000 miles.

Chevy Equinox EV vs. Bolt EUV

Amusing as it is, but Chevy Equinox EV is not the only electric vehicle Chevrolet has slated to release in the coming years. The 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV is another electric vehicle that Chevrolet is rolling out shortly. The two cars are similar in pricing and target audience, making them the perfect cars to compare.

The difference between the two vehicles in terms of the price range is that Bolt EUV has a speculated base price of $25,600. Apart from the price difference, Equinox will be a later model larger than the Bolt. Moreover, Equinox EV runs on Chevrolet’s new Ultium Platform, while Bolt EUV runs on the BEV2 platform by General Motors. It is designed specifically for smaller vehicles.

Talking about power and range, the Equinox EV convincingly beats the Bolt EUV. Equinox EV offers a max range of 300 miles, 290 horsepower, and 346 lb-ft of torque, while Bolt’s max range is 247 miles and 200 horsepower.

Once again, the Equinox EV beats the Bolt EUV regarding battery charging and life. Equinox EV can charge up to 70 miles in only 10 minutes, and the Bolt EUV, with the help of its DC fast charger, can charge 95 miles in 30 minutes. Additionally, the Equinox charges 34 miles per hour, while the Bolt charges only 25. This shows the difference between both platforms and which car is more efficient regarding the battery.

While the Bolt EUV is a great, affordable electric vehicle, the new Equinox EV blows it out of the water with its immense range, efficient charging, superior platform, and powerful engine. Thus, for just a small increase in price, it is best to invest in Equinox EV promises as it provides a superior design with a different driving range and a wide variety of automated features.

Conclusion

Like the new Blazer and Silverado EV, Equinox promises zero driving emission, zero gas stops, and reduced maintenance. The car looks extremely promising, and further sneak peeks will only increase the hype around the vehicle.
